Our ten founders were pioneers of the coeducational system at a time when society said women did not need higher education. Facing such opposition, our founders sought support from each other and formed Alpha Phi in 1872 at Syracuse University.

Alpha Phi's colors are silver and bordeaux, and its symbols include the Phi Bear and the ivy leaf. Alpha Phi enhances and promotes each member's development and learning by focusing on sisterhood, service, scholarship, leadership, loyalty, and character development.

Today, our sisterhood stretches from coast to coast through 160 collegiate campuses and includes more than 200,000 members. Sisters in Alpha Phi share a commitment to excellence and a strong desire to help one another and their communities.

Our chapter was first colonized as a local sorority, but became an international Alpha Phi chapter in 1996. To this day, our chapter is comprised of the highest caliber of women, each member diverse and unique, but bonded together in sisterhood.

The focus is to improve our participants' mental health through having a consistent and healthy way of de-stressing and relaxing through art. Art Club has a big event once a month as well as weekly meetings for our members. Due to Art Club's relaxed nature, Art Club is a low commitment club. This means that our members do not have to attend every meeting and they may come and go as they wish throughout the meeting!

off-campus awareness of both local and global health issues, from the opioid epidemic to homelessness, and to promote initiatives to help alleviate these burdens.

We expect members to gain the skills for conducting research about public health issues and knowledge of community and global health. The Inter-Club Council (ICC) comprises representatives from over ninety student organizations, which represent diverse student interests and leadership opportunities in several categories: Honor/Academic Achievement, International/Cultural, Political, Professional/Departmental, Arts/Communication, Student-led Ministries, Greek Councils, and Special Interest groups. Fraternities, sororities, and sports clubs maintain their own distinctive councils. Each year, the ICC in conjunction with Student Activities, allocates funding to recognized student organizations from the general fund, provided they abide by the stipulations outlined in the Inter-Club Council by-laws. Among its responsibilities, the Inter-Club Council:

* Facilitates campus-wide, student-led activities;
* Promotes student-led service projects;
* Fosters organizational growth through student-led mentoring and collaboration;
* Coordinates the budgeting and financing of ICC General Fund appropriations to member organizations.

KCM exists to serve three purposes:

KCM exists to be the evangelistic arm of the local church on campus. We believe God has called us to obey His Great Commission in making disciples at Pepperdine University. Our deep desire is that God will use KCM to lead lost collegians to Christ and have these collegians to become committed members of a local church.
KCM exists to raise leaders for the local church. Leaders are made when they are taught leadership principles and given opportunities to practice leadership. At most churches, collegians, although taught leadership, might not be given opportunities. Our deep desire at KCM is that God would use KCM to not only teach leadership principles to our student leaders but also give them an opportunity to practice these principles so that they grow in becoming the leaders that God wants them to be.
Lastly, KCM exists to mobilize our Christian Community to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. The Bible says that Jesus will return when his gospel is preached to all the nations. KCM's deep desire is to expose our students to God's great missionary work and raise them up to be costly goers and senders in the name of Christ.

NSLS is the largest accredited leadership honor society and collegiate leadership development program in the country. NSLS is currently operating on over 700 campuses and has over one million inducted members. NSLS differs from other honor societies because instead of being inducted based on a GPA requirement and then choosing if or how they participate in the program or not, students in the NSLS have to complete the five steps of the NSLS program in order to earn their induction. Throughout the program, NSLS fosters a community that leads to a sense of belonging, and then members are given content that they need to develop their skills. Pepperdine Ambassadors Council was originally created by a group of students who felt a need for greater leadership opportunities as well as the need to give back to the very same institution that supported them.

The group, which was originally called the Pep 20, was brought together to serve under the Office of the President. Through their pride and enthusiasm they promoted the positive image of Pepperdine. In 1992, the Pepperdine Ambassadors Council was moved from the Alumni Relations Office to University Advancement, where it is today. By redirecting its energies to advancing the University as a whole, the group would represent all Pepperdine students at official University events. For the 2020–2021 academic year, the Pepperdine Ambassadors Council has a membership of 20 ambassadors who uphold the same traditions and ideals of the original Pep 20.

This year's council is humbled and honored by this opportunity and are ready and willing to serve. Ambassadors have held leadership positions in many areas of student development such as the Student Government Association, Campus Ministry, the Housing and Residential Life Office, Greek organizations, and many other campus-wide groups. The Cine Club will continue to foster a community of cinephiles and filmmakers to join in community and further passions in pursuing cinema. Continuation of the three-prong purpose as: Film Society, Film Festival Culture and Research/Scholarship will define our 2024-2025 year. Film society will be an opportunity for university students to immerse themselves in the analysis and integration of films into their lives, introducing a creative exchange of cinema-talk to ultimately benefit Pepperdine university. Opportunities to elevate and excite the general community through the film festival culture prong will come in the form of attending and volunteering at film festivals to inspire students to pursue independent filmmaking and acquaint them with industry professionals. Finally, the research/scholarship prong will bring awareness towards the fulfilling experience of film studies. Combined, these prongs will continue to build an inclusive community for cinephiles to solidify the Pepperdine film community.
The core values of the Cine Club include the importance of cinematic creativity within a community. Open expression of ideas and collaboration will be a primary component that we hope to stress this year with our efforts. Cine Club will offer opportunities to participate in the University’s major film events, such as festivals and scholastic conferences, hoping to build a strong network relevant to a future career in filmmaking. Students will commit and discover their purpose in the power of filmmaking, a vocational career popular in Southern California.
The Pepperdine Cine Club will continue to strengthen the core fundamental mission and values of Pepperdine University by establishing a group dedicated to purpose, service, and leadership. Filmmaking is an art and an incredible tool that helps advance the voices and stories of people all around the world. The Cine Club will actively connect students together through film discussion and monthly get-togethers, providing a space that will further strengthen the student body and give a sense of belonging to creatives on-campus. Through cinema-oriented events, especially world-acclaimed ones like the Sundance Film Festival, Pepperdine students will help refine and discover their purpose through film by being a first-hand witness of the best films from all around the world as well. Volunteering, itself, goes hand-in-hand with Pepperdine’s Christian mission of service by showcasing the spirit of Pepperdine’s fellowship and serving non-profit film festivals like the Sundance Film Festival. Cine Club members will be able to serve for the non-profit organizations like the Sundance Film Institute and continue to support crucial film events that exist as the heart of the film industry. In terms of leadership, the Cine Club will prepare each student to engage with each other in a creative atmosphere that will then inspire members to facilitate individual conversations regarding film and further their individual creative projects. Volunteering through this club will also provide the group’s members with leadership experience while simultaneously preparing them for future careers in the film industry.


Organization Strategy

We are blessed to rely on the film studies program at Pepperdine University for the 2024-2025 year. With our strong relationship with the Screen Arts Director, Dr. Joi Carr, Cine Club will be able to utilize her expertise and experience to constitute a contemporary temporal programming centering around cinema and film. We stand with the support of the Institute of Entertainment, Media, Sports, and Culture at Pepperdine, and will use their resources to co-sponsor this club’s endeavors. Our continuing relationship with external film institutional support such as the Sundance Institute is another example of the strong networking relationships we have currently built. Current conversations with potential partnerships will be made.
Additionally, the strong experience this club has had with festivals and operations will aid in creating a strong inclusive film club for Pepperdine. This team currently hosts a variety of students from different backgrounds, all aiding in supporting cinema through a shared passion for all things film.
Our organization’s opportunities going into the 2024-2025 school year are to expand the club’s presence on-campus by providing an increase in inclusive student body experiences with the club. This club hopes to fully implement the three prong strategy of creating: film society, film festival culture, and scholarship/research opportunities for students interested in the cinematic arts. In film society, our club has the unique position to use our connection to the outside film industry and bring on-campus screenings to the Seaver campus and expose screening off-campus opportunities, as well. This club also will integrate a Q&A screening series that will be an educational opportunity for students to learn more about the logistics and craftsmanship in film. The Pepperdine Cine Club also will expand the volunteer cohort to support more local institutions rather than national, and will aim to tap into residing film festivals like the Santa Barbara International Film Festival pending COVID-19. Besides Santa Barbara, students can continue to seek fundraising opportunities that help support the club’s experiences and can continue fostering a relationship with the Sundance Film Festival. Besides film festivals and screenings, this club will take on another sector in film by creating lecture series for students centered around film topics and inviting scholars to come to Pepperdine and speak on critical industry movements with students. The 2024-2025 will be the first year that the three-prong system will be implemented which will help create a more inclusive film community for the overall student body.

The Pepperdine Mathematics Club seeks to provide an open forum for undergraduate students interested in mathematics to discuss ideas, collaborate in a social setting, and be an active member of an official group at Pepperdine University. We work closely with the faculty to present real mathematical research and topics. We emphasize the beauty of mathematics, the skills that we gain from studying mathematics, and the career options gained from a background in mathematics whether one is getting a degree in it or not.

We hold weekly general meetings involving a short fellowship time, snacks, and a longer lecture style presentation by a faculty member, guest speaker, or a student. These talks typically include finished research or various topics such as a particularly interesting application of mathematics.

We encourage members to apply for the Pi Mu Epsilon Honors society if they are eligible, and we hold the Math Formal in the late spring to induct the new members.

The Pepperdine Resilience-Informed Skills Education (RISE) Program is our invitation to students to develop their resilience skills, care for themselves and their peers in times of need, and reinforce their ability to bounce back from life's challenges no matter how great or small.

Resilience is a term that comes from the materials industry. Rubber is rated on how quickly it can bounce back. People can learn to "bounce back" too. Life will predictably have its challenges, some great, some small. The ability to bounce back is a critical life skill for students during the college years and beyond. RISE seeks to build the physical, cognitive, social, life skills, service, and spiritual resilience of our students by providing them with frameworks that can be used to navigate life's difficulties.

RnD Dance is a club formed by a group of Pepperdine students who love dancing and want to bring the sheer joy of dancing into the Pepperdine community. The acronym, RnD, means "Rise and Dance"; it shows our passion for dancing and calls for our members just to rise up and dance. The term "rise" also implies gradual improvements.

The purpose of RnD Dance is to allow students to expand or foster their skills in dance while participating in a friendly, accepting, and engaging social activity. The club's purpose is consistent with the Pepperdine University Mission regarding expanding knowledge and leadership skills. Members will use the art of dance to promote community, respect, openness, depth, and passion. Members obtain leadership through participation, involvement, and continued dedication.

Open to all Pepperdine students, our club doesn't require general members to have sound training and solid foundations. However, we will select instructors and crew members via specific auditions.

For all Pepperdine students, we will provide regular workshops on different kinds of dance, such as Hip-hop, Jazz, and K-pop. We hope to let everyone join us and practice dancing frequently. Crew members are selected and focus on preparing for performances and dance cover videos for school and the club. Auditions for crew membership and/or instructor are open to all Pepperdine students each semester.

Our organization's mission is to learn mathematical and scientific modeling in a fun environment. In the club, we ask quantitative questions. We then explore modeling approaches, model writing, analysis, simulation, parameterization, and interpretation of results that feed back into asking new questions. The Kappa Omicron chapter of Sigma Chi, initially known as The Shield, started out much like that of the Sigma Chi International Fraternity. In 1991, two Brothers, Bill Scharing and Levi Sutter, decided that no fraternity at Pepperdine University matched the goals, ideals and values that they held dear. Having previously been exposed to Sigma Chi and having found it to exemplify their high ideals, they decided to work to found a chapter of Sigma Chi at Pepperdine.

Sigma Chi believes its members should have "different temperaments, talents and convictions" as did Scharing and Sutter. Sigma Chi maintains the idea that its members share a "common belief in an ideal" and most importantly, that "genuine friendship can be maintained without surrendering the principle of individuality or sacrificing one's personal judgment." By sharing these beliefs with friends two members became seven, seven became fifteen, fifteen became twenty-five. What was originally called The Shield and started with two people, is now the Kappa Omicron chapter of the Sigma Chi International Fraternity and has become a group of brothers committed to all that being a Sigma Chi demands.

The Fraternity's mission has been refined to be "Building Balanced Men." With these three words, we capture the essence of SigEp's value to its members: charting a course for men to live their best lives by embracing our cardinal principles of Virtue, Diligence and Brotherly Love and committing to the practice of Sound Mind and Sound Body.

The Cal Psi chapter maintains the highest fraternity GPA and boast over 75 members. In the summer of 2011 and 2013 at SigEps national Conclave in Phoenix, Arizona and Dallas, Texas respectively, Cal Psi won a Buck Cup: an award given only to the most outstanding and accomplished of the 231 Sig Ep chapters nationwide.

Student Success Center's mission is to support Seaver College students in pursuit of their academic goals, and in doing so, impact academic success, retention, and graduation rates. The Student Success Center (SSC) is a resource for ongoing improvement and innovation in learning through fostering best practices in academic competencies.



The SSC operates our peer-tutoring network with the mentality that students working with students promotes academic success. In addition to tutoring, the SSC also offers free, individualized academic coaching, and hosts monthly learning skills workshops designed to help students overcome possible success barriers. Tutoring is free for all Seaver College students, and we encourage students to utilize our services at any time in their academic career. Wave Pool: Student Investment Club is the first investment club at Pepperdine Seaver College. Wave Pool seeks to promote financial literacy, extend finance career opportunities, and encourage economic applications in the lives of students. We find it imperative to address the lack of financial education in the traditional schooling system by prioritizing financial literacy in our discussions. Additionally, Wave Pool intends to enhance Pepperdine's Finance program by extending internships, exploratory programs, and other career development opportunities to undergraduates. Waves of Silence's strengths going into the 2022-2023 school year are being an
open and accepting environment for all forms of meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and prayer. The club atmosphere will be extremely supportive and positive no matter where people are on their spiritual journey. The meditation club strives to lift members up and celebrate wherever we are physically, mentally, and spiritually. Our organization's opportunities going into the 2022-2023 school year are simply being an open community that accepts anyone curious about the practice of sitting quietly and letting the mind slow down. Before meditating and doing yoga, the club will participate in an activity to get the mind ready to be in the moment. This could include spiritual readings, open discussion, sharing experiences, breathing exercises, watching videos, or simply being together and enjoying each other's company. The club will be going on retreats to temples and meditation centers in the LA/Malibu area and we will invite speakers to share their experiences with meditation and the wonders of obtaining a silent mind.

"Word Up" is a term that stems from the colloquial meaning of acknowledgement, approval or indication of enthusiasm, coupled with John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." When the two are married, the idea is that, within that space of worship, God (the Word) is going to be acknowledged with enthusiasm.

Word Up is a gospel-centered, inclusive worship community that highly emphasizes and values the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Word Up is designed to encourage community between all students, regardless of religious background, affiliation, or perspective in order to promote a more loving, understanding, and unified campus.
